capital of ecuador

Saturday. Monumental day. I particularly enjoyed it because itapos;s my first real pit experience (FINALLY). Anyway, the bands that played were The Academy Is..., We the Kings, Carolina Liar, and Hey Monday. First of all it was me, Erin, and Carisa. PEQUITO, ROCKY, AND FYDELLE So we planned to get early entry with eating at the restaurant, yet we arrived there too late for early entry. When we got to the House of Blues, the Meet and Greet was going on. So, for about an hour, we waited in the general admission line. During that time, everyone excludingMike Carden came out to wave at the general admission line.

When we got into the building, we got merch first. I wanted to buy one of the Butcherapos;s drawings, but they were $50. :( Instead, I got a "We the Kings Owns Your Face" shirt and a Bill and Travapos;s Bogus Journey Tour shirt. When we got there downstairs, we stood on the stairs before, since I didnapos;t know how bad the pit would be.

Hey Monday played first and they are pretty great live. The two guitarists look a little .. Strange though. Haha. From what Iknow they played:
Run, Donapos;t Walk
Josie
Homecoming
Candles
How You Love Me Now
They had a lot of character. The drummer was my favorite though. He threw his drumstick, intending to throw it into the crowd, and it hit the guitarist instead. Hilarioussssssss.

Carolina Liar was next. They were surprisingly very good live. I didnapos;t really know any of their songs except the last song, but thatapos;s okay. And just to mention, they had MAJOR hair. And the guitarist on the left looked like he was high. From my knowledge they played:
California Bound
Iapos;m Not Over
Coming to Terms
Everyone in the band, excluding the drummer, were wearing boy scouts vests. Meanwhile, the lead singer wore a Mickey Mouse shirt underneath; very suitable.

Next was We the Kings. AMAZINGGGGGGG. Travis Clark is so great. I canapos;t really say anything about them except that they were amazing. They played:
Whoa
August is Over (first time EVER)
Feel Good Inc. (Gorillaz cover)
Skyway Avenue (my favoriteee)
Check Yes Juliet
This is Our Town
All Again For You
Secret Valentine (SEXYYY)
It was cool that the crowd really got into it, since they are a more popular band than The Academy Is (which is great; selfish I know). Sometime during this, Travis went out into the crowd while security was holding him by his pants. Fun stuff.

Then the crowd pretty much almost cleared for The Academy Is. At this point, Carisa and Erin thought that We the Kings was out on the patio, but they couldnapos;t find the band. Bummer. William Beckett is even more good looking in person. Very exciting. Michael Guy Chislettapos;s hair was .. Strange. Anyway, William has the best stage presence out of any other performer ever. Heapos;s just too amazing for words; Heapos;s DIAMONDS. They played:
Attention
Classifieds
Checkmarks
Almost Here
The Phrase That Pays
Slow Down
Weapos;ve Got a Big Mess on Our Hands
Neighbors
Everything We Had
After the Last Midtown Show
Summer Hair = Forever Young
Rumored Nights
Automatic Eyes (WILLIAM ACOUSTICCCCCC<3)
About a Girl (Travis Clark came out during this one)
The Test (Cassadee came out for this one)
I would live this night over and over again. After the show, we went to Uva Bar, while Michael Guy Chislett was at Rainforest Cafe and Mike Carden was at Brea Bakery, and ate some delicious food. After that, I met Jersey from Hey Monday. The line for Cassadee was way too long. Waste of my time.

William and Travis during About a Girl. I think they went out into the crowd for this one too. Willaim went out into the crowd like four times. Said that it was the best show on the tour. I feel special.

By the way, my pictures arenapos;t exactly up to snuff since they were taken with my camera.

Me and Jersey. Man I have white teeth. If you canapos;t see, this guy has SNAKE BITES. Legit.

Iheard a news story that Dallas school teachers are getting laid off because of budgeting problems in the district. Ifeel sorry for the teachers because this is really unnecessary for the school system. Its not just the Dallas school system its the school system for the country as a whole with a problem. They do not pay teachers enough and on top of being paid crappy salaries then they have to take pay cuts. No wonder they are having trouble finding teachers for todayapos;s schools.

I think they need to reevaluate the problem and I am sure they can find a solution. Ithink one solution to the whole matter is instead of cutting funding for programs like music and art. They should cut funding for things like sports and the expansion of sport facilities. Reason being for my idea is the fact that something that expands the minds of students IS the music and art and reading programs that schools provide. When kids lose art and music classes they lose touch with real educations and learning. The more you take away from students the more they lose out.

Sports to so many is majorly important and for those that love it I dont have a problem with you. But I have heard so many times from school systems that funding for sports goes on while other programs get cut during a budget crisis. Ithink that if they were to really use those Degreeapos;s they achieved theyapos;d find a way to fund ALL the programs. And if they were really that interested in the education of children than theyapos;d agree that keeping other programs like music and art is far more important than adding more sports to schools. I think we lose track of education through sports.

Yes Idid participate in a sports program. I was on the swim team in my junior and senior years of High School. So its not like I am one of those guys that kept his nose in books and who ate lunch alone because he would rather learn than play sports. I do however love art and music and hate hearing one track sports minded school officials say that they MUST keep sports alive and cut other things. IF we are to start cutting anything it should be what doesnt expand the minds of students over what does.

In my opinion.

Three animals up for adoption...

Two female degus. Theyapos;ve been left behind by a roommate moving out. They arenapos;t really big on being handled, but with some work I think they could be really sweet. They must stay together and Iwill be interviewing whoever adopts them thoroughly...

Ialso have a corn snake looking for a home. Heapos;s a rescue someone dropped off at the local humane society and since they donapos;t have the resources to do snakes, heapos;s at a pit stop at my house. Just a baby, very sweet. Again with the thorough interview process...

And I mean quick.

Iapos;m tired, just got back and everything. They were scheduled to go on at 7:00, but they started a bit late. They still played for about 90 minutes, which is still good.

I donapos;t remember all the songs, but hereapos;s the ones I do remember:

Long Way Down
Here Is Gone
Big Machine
Slide

then two songs sung by Robby Takac (EW). Robby, I think youapos;re a good bassist, but plz 2 be not singing.

Then a song from Let Love In which I didnapos;t catch the name of.

Followed by (these three may not be in order):

Black Balloon
Name
Naked (including short drum intro)

Then a run of... Maybe, 5 or 6 songs I didnapos;t know, including ANOTHER ROBBY SONG :(

And then:

Broadway
Better Days (^__^)
Let Love In
=====
IRIS (YAY)

Despite what I said earlier, I didnapos;t cry during "Iris", but wow... I loved it.

I loved the whole show. Except Robby singing. Oh yeah. They played the song they wrote for Transformers... Canapos;t remember the name of it right now. Also, we got the first live performance of their new single "Real", and I loved it.

All in all, a great night. The bass was really high in the mix though. Thanks for killing my ears :/
